Robert was very helpful, friendly, and informative, fully meeting what I had signed up for.
That being said, my consultation with Robert only confirmed what I was already feeling about Upwork, that it is a highly user-blockading and obstructive (NON-user-friendly!) platform. The fact that I had to seek out a Robert at all is already 12 demerits to this platform: I sought out Robert because I couldn't find my way around this website, and I've been using, and in some cases building, websites for 25+ years. Every element of "intuitive user interface" seems to have been vehemently thrown out the window by Upwork. There wasn't adequate explanation, instruction, or support, and I actually had to PAY SOMEONE $100 to find out basic info, like "How does this ecosystem work"? 99 more demerits there. But literally everything is hard in Upwork: Replying to a message is hard, I have to be logged into the right email, not the one it forwards to. I have to click a Communist Party Nondiscolusure Oath to the Communist Upwork Party just to read or answer a message. And then of course the message bounces anyway. It was so hard to find anything on this website, even anyone who could answer my basic usage questions. Then when I finally found some, it was incredibly hard to contact them. I spent probably 20 minutes figuring out how to contact any of the few relevant people I had found-- and then I had to pay $100! I'm not saying Robert isn't worth it, I'm saying Upwork ABSOLUTELY SHOULD NOT have made me do that! Guinness Book of World Records level BAD! May that record never be touched! So while Robert is a great guy, my view of Upwork at this time is a bit in the "unsatisfactory" range, and blatantly so. Not in 1996 (via dial-up!) were websites this difficult to navigate and use. So, I don't spend much time here, and am pursuing other opportunities elsewhere. If YOU do spend significant time here, Robert is a very good guy to show you around. (And Upwork needs to hire some Upworkers to completely BUILD in the first place a viable user interface and navigational experience, as well as hire a support department to guide beginning users and help them become successful and in turn grow this platform!)
