I hired Gabriel for doing GMB optimizations for a couple of profiles. He completed one and then I said I wanted to see the results before proceeding with the others since he claimed a "70% increase in inbound leads after Google re-crawls". My expectation was that this will take a few months and any improvement is worth it.
Gabriel will undoubtedly spin his own version of what happened, but I will quote him. He tells me that the profile has been on a decline since January (correctly) but "after the optimization work I implemented, the profile generated 42% more business interactions in just one month compared to the previous period" and that we have "seen positive movement from the work already completed, I think this is a good time to move forward with the other profiles and apply the same optimization strategy across them"
I looked into the data and the month in question (May) was actually the only month that has seen a decline. This could have been due to his optimization OR the profile being suspended for a week. So he completely misinterprets the data or misleads me to try to get more work.
I asked him to explain his rationale and he doubles down, stating "after months of continuous decline, the profile stopped losing ground after the optimization was implemented. That's an important leading indicator when evaluating profile performance."
Again, this is actually not true. The decline has not stopped (yet at least), and one interpretation is that his work actually made it worse. I wanted to give him more time since I know results aren't instant but unfortunately, he has tried to rush into getting more instead of building a long term relationship.

Google business profile suspended
Gabriel explained the timeline to get the profile back to active, he was clear about the process needed to do it right to avoid any future issues.
He communicated during the whole ordeal giving me peace of mind that there was actually something happening as there is no way to actually know what is going on in the background.
