I have been in Technical SEO since 2010 and have worked through every major shift this industry has seen, Panda, Penguin, mobile-first, Core Web Vitals, and now AI search. What has stayed the same through all of it is that websites with a strong technical foundation are always the ones that come out on top, and AI search is no different.
That is why most people have it wrong when they assume ranking on ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google AI Overviews is a content problem. It is not entirely wrong, but it is not entirely true either.
These systems crawl and interpret your entire website. If the architecture is weak or signals are conflicting at a technical level, content changes alone will not fix it.
This is also where most SEOs fall short. They run your website through a tool, hand you a report and call it an audit. I do not work that way. I look at the source code, understand how the website is actually built, how crawlers are moving through it and how it is being read and interpreted by AI systems.
