3D product animation videos for social & paid
Vishal provided a quote for an AI animation to be completed based on a reference video. However, when it came to completing the work, there were some issues with the project:
- There was lack of communication with the client around the direction of the creative, before the work commenced. This meant that the project went in a different direction than what the client originally wanted, leading to wasted budget. More clarification was needed with the client to avoid this.
- There was misinterpretation of the final effect required for the render, however rather than double-checking with the client regarding the confusion before completing the work, Vishal made changes to his render that again, resulted in a product that needed to be changed multiple times, further increasing the project's hours and budget.
- When questioned about why the above were not discussed prior to the work being done, Vishal identified the modelling was out of scope, which was not mentioned in the original quote.
- Overall, Vishal was very prompt and eager to do the work, however when it came to managing client's expectation and resolving issues, he is perceived as defensive, and blamed the client rather than working out and solving the issue.
In general, I felt that as someone who doesn't know much about the subject area, and who trusted a professional to guide the work, was taken advantage of due to my lack of knowledge. As a result, I ended the contract as I did not wish to waste either side's time or budget in arguing and fixing a failed project.
