Appointment setter - cold calling (Italian native only)
The main problem in this collaboration was not just low performance, but a clear mismatch between what we agreed and what was actually done.
We defined a very specific process: speak by phone with decision-makers, use email only as support after the call, avoid sending cold emails to generic addresses, and always follow up by phone before any follow-up email. I explained this several times in writing and on video calls.
However, I found a very high number of calls with 0 seconds and under 1 minute duration, and a large volume of emails sent to generic company addresses (info@, etc.) or to contacts obtained from the switchboard, often without ever speaking to the responsible person. In many cases, follow-up emails were sent without any further phone attempt. This is the exact opposite of what we had agreed.
What concerns me most is that, while the data clearly showed that the activity was mostly short calls + email sequences, our conversations gave me the impression that the agreed process was being followed and that “everyone wanted an email first”. This creates a feeling of inconsistency between what was reported and what actually happened in the work.
As a result, the outreach produced far fewer real conversations with decision-makers than expected, and I had to stop the collaboration. I strongly recommend more transparency about how the work is actually done and stricter adherence to the client’s instructions in future projects.
