About Marc

Marc L.
Brand & Video Designer, Online Course Specialist
Natal, Brazil - 12:43 am local time
Hi there, I'm Marc. I'm an E-Learning Video Specialist.

My Super Power is to turn your video course into an absolute masterpiece, both aesthetically pleasing and powerfully didactical. I achieve that by applying Motion Design techniques within a Neurolinguistic programming (NLP) creative process. I deliver a guaranteed boost in your students' learning process.

What exactly is learning? As 400 B.C. Master philosopher and educator Plato once said, LEARNING IS CHANGING. Science proved that, as instructors, we really don't teach anything. We must instead convince our students to teach themselves. And how do we achieve that? Through NEUROPLASTICITY.

Making the brain change its configuration isn't easy. Learning isn't a random or magic process. We can't just throw a bunch of information into someone's screen and expect them to remember it a week after. We need to decide WHAT to show, WHEN to show and HOW to show it. The learning process occurs within the laws of epistemology, where our brain needs the right STIMULUS, at the right INTENSITY, and at the right PACE in order to fully assimilate information in the way intended.

One of said conditions is the right EMOTIONAL STIMULUS. As humans, we are not really rational beings. In fact, most of what we perceive comes from emotional triggers. It's difficult to forget our first kiss, our fist day at school or the first job. At school, we liked more subjects taught by teachers we also liked. So the same applies to learning in a digital environment.

If a class is boring, dull and don't really connect to us, we don't identify with that. But with content created in a way that connects, that lets us identify with, that talks to us like it was live? It's easy to assess the real meaning.

So what does it have to do with Video Design?

Let's face it - Just talking to a camera without actually SHOWING information in compelling visual or auditive way isn't going to get your students hooked. Also using slides, though visual, are a thing of the past, their real intent is to help the instructors organize themselves -- Did I mention writing anything longer than a sentence in a slide is going to make your audience roll up their eyes?

Infographics, text layers, lower thirds, subtitles, photos and videos, interactivity. All those resources are available to us in order to bury traditional learning (and traditional digital learning) and give life to a new way of teaching. The answer is of course, WHAT, WHEN and HOW to use that, as having those at gratuitous times just for the sake of it really hinders the creative process.

Those are key resources for content creators. Many online instructors spend a lot of money and energy into marketing their courses, creating that killer ad that will convert most students, we get excited and buy that, start taking the classes, but at the end of the day, their masks slip. It's the same boring class everyone else lectures.

So who cares? You should. At Udemy for instance, refunds are becoming way more frequent according to some articles I can't link here. From 1-2% they now can be as big as 10% of total purchases. These instructors are severely losing reviews due to underdelivering, that means too much expectation for too shallow delivery. A friend of mine paid once for a Finances course on udemy and felt the need to ask for refund three times in a row because the courses didn't really lived up to their promises.

Great experiences not only make your students happier faster learners, they also make your students stick longer and purchase more from you. We're talking about Customer Lifetime Value (CLV) here. I get it, we want those easy sales, and the idea of passive income is just neat. But passive income means it should endure time. How about we make it a future-proof passive income? Why not make it evergreen? By investing in better classes now, you're sowing for a ROI (Return of Investment) that can be up to 3-4 times the initial sale value.

Take a quick look at my porfolio.

I've helped dozens of languages schools, business coaches, IT instructors and independent teachers launch their videos to the web in a way that takes advantage of their brand strategy, their core values and their epistemological approach.

Graduated as a Design Bachelor 7 years ago, I'm over 5 years into Motion Design, and 3 years spent working specifically in video learning and teaching. Recently moved to freelance platforms and now I'm a high ranking level Seller in F****r where I dominated my niche to the point of quitting my day job in just 3 months.
