Anyone can throw a few sharp-sounding sentences together and dress it up as copywriting.
ChatGPT, Claude, Deepseek - AI tools have made it trivially simple to churn out what most people would read and nod along to:
🗣️ “Yeah, that sounds solid”
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is exactly why conversion rates have quietly hit record lows…
Right now, business owners are falling into one of two traps:
A) Hiring writers who are essentially just prompting AI, getting something that sounds polished, and calling it a day.
B) Using AI themselves (copy-pasting whatever they get) with no idea what separates “decent-sounding” from copy that actually converts.
Both roads lead to the same destination:
↳ Words on a page that nobody acts on.
Now - just to be clear: this isn't an anti-AI rant. I use it every single day.
But not the way most people do.
AI is a tool in my process - not a replacement for it.
Because the fact is: the copy isn't actually the hard part.
The thinking behind the copy is.
Which is where most writers - human or AI - get it completely wrong.
See, most people outsource the thinking to AI and call it a process.
Mine took 5 years to develop - and depending on the client type, it works something like this:
① Step 1: The “Voice of Customer” Deep Dive
Before I write a single word, I go where your customers are… literally right now…
Reddit threads, niche forums, review sections - and I mine for the exact language they use to describe their problems.
This is what makes copy feel like it was written for the reader, not “at them” like most copy.
② The “Big Idea” Framework
Every piece of copy lives or dies by its angle.
The angle is the single, overarching idea that makes someone stop where they’re at and think: “Okay, this sounds interesting”
(You made it this far into my profile because of the angle).
Without a clear Big Idea, it doesn't matter how well the sentences are written, the copy won't land.
I spend more time on this step than any other - because it determines roughly 95% of the final outcome.
③ Sentence-by-Sentence Attention Engineering
The opening is, without question, the most critical part of any piece of copy… whether it’s a website hero section, the first couple lines of an email, or the intro of a sales page. It's the moment that decides whether someone reads on - or doesn't.
That being said - a strong opening only gets them through the door. High-converting copy keeps attention locked in all the way to the CTA.
So every sentence should do one job: to simply make the reader… read on.
I write with that in mind at all times - cutting AI fluff, removing filler, eliminating anything that makes the reader's eye drift.
None of your typical AI-sounding fluff…
“This isn't just a workout - it's a life-changing fitness journey.” blah blah blah
Yeah. None of that.
④ The Alignment Pass
Once the copy is written, I go back through with a different lens entirely - not as the writer, but as the reader.
Does the message align with the audience's awareness level?
Does the CTA follow naturally from everything before it?
Is every claim earned, or does something feel like a stretch?
This is where good copy becomes elite-level copy.
