TEDx Talk Consultation

30 million TED and TEDx views. 60% selected as TEDx "Editor's Picks." My clients' talks have been featured on every TED and TEDx official platform, including all of their social media and digital platforms. They've also been featured on TED ED, TED Radio Hour, TED Ideas, TED Shorts, TEDx Shorts, and more. In the last 3 years, 60% of the talks I've coached were selected at TEDx Editor's Picks.

I was the license holder for TEDxCU for nearly 10 years. I reviewed 400+ applications each year. I've talked to and am friends with TEDx organizers all over the world. To clarify: I NEVER recommend clients to friends' events. If someone says they can get you a TEDx Talk they are, quite literally, selling you something.

What I'm going to say next might surprise you: if you haven't been selected to give a talk yet, you shouldn't have anyone write your speech. You aren't there yet. You should write your speech WITH the event that selects you.

As of January 2025, I am offering a TEDx Consultation that will help you develop the idea to pitch on your TEDx Applications. This consultation comes with the following:

TEDx Speechwriter Jeff is a thoughtful and talented speechwriter who helped me organize and clarify some complex ideas for my TEDx talk. He asks great questions, is highly collaborative, and genuinely cares about helping his clients develop a meaningful message. Throughout our work together, he was patient, professional, and invested in the process. While I ultimately decided to take the final stage of the talk in my own voice, I’m grateful for his guidance and would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a skilled writing coach.

30 million TED and TEDx views. 60% selected as TEDx "Editor's Picks." Keynotes for events and conferences across industries. Delivered on 6 continents.

Speeches I've coached and/or written are all of the above.

I help executives, founders, professionals, and speakers become clearer, more confident, and more effective communicators.

Sometimes that means preparing for a keynote, TEDx talk, board presentation, investor pitch, or major conference speech. But often, the work starts somewhere more personal and practical:

You have a lot to say, but your thoughts get jumbled.
You know your ideas matter, but you struggle to organize them in the moment.
You want to sound confident, but anxiety takes over.
You need more presence, but you don’t want to sound fake, rehearsed, or overly polished.

That is exactly the kind of work I do.

I offer individual communication coaching sessions designed to help you develop clarity of mind, clarity of message, presence, confidence, and a more grounded way of speaking. Whether you are preparing for a high-stakes presentation or simply want to communicate more effectively in meetings, leadership conversations, interviews, panels, or everyday professional situations, I help you slow down, think clearly, structure your ideas, and speak in a way that sounds like you at your best.

My work falls into three connected areas: Strategy, Content Creation, and Delivery.

1. Strategy: Clarify the Message

Strong communication begins before the words.

Many leaders and professionals come to me with too many ideas competing for attention. They know the topic. They know the stakes. But they don't know the throughline (the central idea that holds everything together).

I help you clarify what you actually mean, what your audience needs to hear, and how to structure your message so people can follow it.

This work may include executive communication strategy, thought organization, throughline development, message clarity, audience analysis, leadership messaging, presentation strategy, Q&A preparation, and meeting or conversation preparation.

When your message is clear, your confidence grows because you're no longer trying to hold everything in your head at once. You know where you're going.

2. Content Creation: Shape the Speech, Talk, or Presentation (Flat fee only)

When you need a keynote, TEDx talk, leadership speech, pitch, or major presentation, I can help you build it from the ground up or reshape what you already have.

I’ve helped prepare keynotes and presentations delivered across industries and on six continents. I’ve also worked with executives and professionals from organizations such as the SAP, Novo Nordisk, Deloitte, Johnson & Johnson, the United Nations, NFL, NBA, The North Face, Brooks, TED/TEDx, and others.

I can help with executive keynotes, TED and TED-style talks, leadership speeches, founder stories, company narratives, scripts, internal presentations, board and investor presentations, conference talks, speech outlines, full manuscripts, talking points, and presentation flow.

I write for spoken language, not the page. That means the message needs to be clear, human, and easy to follow in real time.

3. Delivery: Speak with Presence and Believability

Delivery is not about becoming theatrical, forcing gestures, adding dramatic pauses, or sounding like a motivational speaker.

Good delivery sounds believable.

In delivery coaching, I help you work on executive presence, vocal confidence, tone, pacing, rhythm, filler words, nerves, concision, pressure, rehearsal, Q&A, and the ability to lead a room with calm authority.

The goal is to help you own the message so you are not trapped in your notes, overwhelmed by anxiety, or trying to remember every word.

You should know your message well enough to be free inside it.

Why Work With Me

I bring together three backgrounds that don't typically live in the same person.

I am a professional speechwriter, executive communications coach, and communication strategist. I've worked with more than 150 TEDx speakers and thousands of professionals in one-on-one sessions and training.

I also taught public speaking, speechwriting, and communication for nearly 20 years college students, including at the University of Colorado Boulder, where I directed TEDxCU for 10 years.

That means I can help you clarify the idea, shape the message, write the speech, and deliver it with more confidence, presence, and ease. I've seen it all and helped people be better.

Whether you are preparing for a high-stakes event or simply want to stop feeling jumbled, anxious, or unclear when you speak, I can help you build a communication process that works.

A great communicator is not someone who always knows exactly what to say.

A great communicator knows how to find the point, shape the message, and deliver it in a way people can understand and trust.

That's the work I love.
