We engaged this freelancer for an initial paid sample task and were transparent from the beginning that we would create the contract and compensate her fairly for the time and effort involved.
However, during the engagement there were concerns around professional judgment and communication approach. Matters that could have been addressed directly within the existing conversation were escalated in a way that created unnecessary friction at an early stage of the relationship. After we clearly communicated our decision not to move forward while still honoring payment, there were continued attempts to revisit the discussion rather than accepting the decision professionally.
