Project details

I have been playing and training football for approximately 25 years. On a professional level as well.

I graduated from journalism and worked as a sports journalist. Therefore, I am prepared to write a football blog that adds value. I am up to the task and full of ideas.

I currently write it in my free time on Medium. You can check it out there to get the feel of it (Matic Čretnik).

Since I would like to make a more useful contribution with my football knowledge, I am looking for clients that can benefit from my content.

If I got your attention, feel free to contact me and we'll see what we can achieve together.

All the best to everyone,

Matic Čretnik

About Matic

Matic C.Status: Offline
Social Media Manager and Content Writer
Ljubljana, Slovenia - 8:37 pm local time
I am Matic Čretnik, a social media manager. Until recently I worked in a digital marketing agency. I am a Slovenian, fluent in English, Croatian, and Slovenian, and live in Ljubljana.

I am passionate about social media, writing, and content production in general. In these areas, I have a lot of experience, especially when it comes to social media.

I was born in Celje, Slovenia, Europe, on 2.3.1991. I graduated from high school in my hometown but then moved to Ljubljana, where I currently live. There, in the capital city of Slovenia, I went to college. I finished a bachelor’s degree in journalism in 2014 at the Faculty of social sciences. But that was not all. I decided to expand my knowledge, so in 2017 I finished a master’s degree in marketing on the same faculty. My thesis was titled Marketing in micro, small, and start-up companies in Slovenia – comparative analysis, so I am very familiar with the start-up environment in Slovenia and start-ups in general.

Nevertheless, during my time at the college, I also worked in various companies in Slovenia. I began my career in journalism in the web portal named Musiq.si. These were my first steps. They included writing articles, interviews, and feature stories together with managing a Facebook page. From the music field, I switched to sports, which was always my number one choice. I started writing about football on the web portal named Tekmovalen.si. It’s fair to say that I did both jobs voluntarily, without getting paid a single euro. My volunteer work was extended to the national television RTV Slovenija, where I completed my internship and student’s magazine called Klin. I have covered a feature story about Tomorrowland, one of the most known music festivals in the world.

Both web portals sadly “died”, but my career did not. In the middle of 2014, I got my first non-volunteer job in the newspaper house named Dnevnik. I liked it because, besides everything I did before, I was able to conduct interviews with (famous) athletes, like hockey star Anže Kopitar, as well. At that time I realized it would be difficult for me only to have knowledge about journalism, so I decided it was time for me to widen my horizons.

Without any idea of what to expect, I decided to continue my education in marketing. I gained some theoretical knowledge in college and then started upgrading it with my new job in a startup named Ply.jobs, where I was responsible for content marketing. Before that, I was doing most of the work in the Slovenian language, but since then, everything I did was in English. After some time, I was encouraged by Fieldoo to do content marketing for them as well. In Ply.jobs the covered area was Human Resource, in contrast to Fieldoo, where I covered goalkeeping, which was anything but hard since I was a football goalkeeper myself.

I have stayed in touch with storytelling the entire time. And storytelling was something that fascinated me from a very young age. After the Ply.jobs was sold to the bigger company and some of the Fieldoo management was changed, I left. I dedicated that time to completing my thesis and expanding my knowledge.

Later, I went back to work—this time in a company named Agiledrop, where I was a marketing assistant. Besides content marketing, I came across e-mail marketing, SEO, social media, collaboration with the sales team, PR and Google Analytics. I have learned a lot but when an opportunity for something more specific came up, I did not hesitate.

I decided to join iPROM, one of the leading marketing agencies in Slovenia, where I settled pretty nicely in the role of a social media specialist. I was managing social media accounts for various clients, doing social media advertising, executing collaborations with influencers etc.

As you can see, I am a hardworking person. I am self-motivated, communicative, and a non-conflict team player, who can do the work individually as well. Much of my work was done remotely over my career, so I am quite familiar with that sort of work as well. And those are all the reasons to consider me for your particular job.
