Project details

Drawing on my degree in English & American literature, and my experience as a developmental editor, I will beta-read your manuscript, whether it is a non-fiction work aimed at entrepreneurs, or an allegorical dystopian fantasy.

The report examines how the manuscript reads from start to finish, including where engagement is strong, where attention drops, and where the experience becomes unclear or difficult to follow.

The report covers:

Overall reading experience from a first-reader perspective
Where engagement is strong or naturally sustained
Where pacing feels slow, rushed, or uneven
Clarity of storytelling or argument
How well transitions work between scenes or sections
Where interest or attention is likely to drop
Moments that feel confusing or require rereading
Consistency of tone and voice as experienced by the reader
Sections that feel particularly effective or compelling
General flow of the manuscript as it progresses

In short, you will get a report that shows how your manuscript is experienced by a reader, and which sections, if any, would benefit from some attention before submission or publication.

Dystopian Romance Developmental Edit It was a pleasure to work with Julie! She was a phenomenal developmental editor. Her feedback was clear and she offered solutions when something needed to be fixed. After giving feedback on Chapter 1, we decided I should rewrite the book from a different POV, which came out so much better! As I rewrote, she gave feedback that helped me progress. We had several Zoom calls where we could talk out solutions in real time and she could answer any questions I had on her feedback. She was always encouraging and pleasant to work with!

We worked on two Google Docs: one was my draft and the other were her editorial notes. This format worked best for us and we could leave each other comments for specific things. She went through all the details as well as the broader storyline of the novel and her comments helped me create a book that I will be proud to publish.

If you're looking for a developmental editor, look no further! Julie is incredible and I highly recommend her services.

I provide professional editing and writing services for manuscripts, business documents, and conversion-focused marketing content. My clients include authors, businesses, and agencies looking for accurate, thoughtful editing and writing that supports their objectives.

I'm a professional editor and writer with a degree in English and American Literature and extensive experience working with authors, businesses, and marketing teams. Before moving into freelance editing, I held senior HR leadership roles across four continents, working with organizations ranging from start-ups and SMEs to multinational companies and government entities. That experience enables me to edit business documents with an understanding of how they are used in practice, and I balance clear communication with an awareness of operational realities.

Editorial Services

I help authors strengthen both fiction and non-fiction manuscripts through developmental editing, manuscript evaluations, beta reading, and editing of AI-assisted manuscripts. My focus is on identifying what will improve the reader's experience, strengthen the overall work, and help the manuscript achieve its purpose.

Business Documents

I review and edit employee handbooks, policies, training materials, reports, and other business documents, improving organization, tone, consistency and readability, while preserving the purpose and intent of the original document. With my HR background I understand how these documents are used in practice and how employees are likely to interpret them.

Conversion Copy

I write high-converting advertorials, bridge pages, VSL scripts, and other long-form marketing content designed to build trust, maintain reader engagement, and support conversion goals. I have particular experience writing in the health and wellness, financial services, beauty, fitness, and personal development sectors.

Clients value my ability to work comfortably across very different types of content. I apply the same editorial discipline to every project: understanding the audience, recognizing the document's purpose, and producing writing that is clear, credible, and effective.

If you're looking for an experienced editor who combines literary training, senior business experience, and a practical approach to improving written communication, I'd be delighted to discuss your project.
