Marcel did truly excellent work. The job was to translate from Polish into English four volumes of a hand-written World War II diary. Marcel made sense of difficult-to-read handwritten text. His translations were thoughtful and superb. At our request, he even explained (in footnotes) idioms and slang expressions that might otherwise have been obscure to English-language readers.
