Dramaturgical notes for Short Sci-fi stage play
Zachary was a phenomenal partner and really took the time to understand my project. He offered very insightful feedback on the content, form and structure of my play, and was absolutely integral to getting it across the finish line.
Zachary was absolutely passionate about the Science Fiction genre, but also offered great advice to help my writing retain its essence while making it more accessible to a general audience. He took the time to nerd out with me about some shared favorite sci-fi gems we both thought were under-appreciated.
After working with Zachary, not only was my project improved, but I feel like I came away from the exchange a better playwright. He helped me understand and follow formatting conventions I wasn't aware of and encouraged me to trust the performers and give them license to interpret my work, rather than spoon-feeding motivations or my own personal interpretation. As a result of those changes, I feel like the work stands on its own two feet much better than my original draft, and I'll be taking those lessons with me to my next project.
