I am a freelance editor, proofreader, researcher, and writer coach with over six years’ experience of working in academic and educational editing and researching, most recently as an editor of literature study guides at SuperSummary, journal articles at eContent Pro, and PhD theses at the University of Cambridge and the London School of Economics. I have a PhD in modernist literature and I primarily offer editing and researching services for academic and educational projects in humanities subjects such as literary studies and history. Languages are my passion, and all my work revolves around them, including being a published author. With a background in Humanities (MA, PhD Archaeology), my language abilities quickly led me to work as a linguist, first briefly in the press field and then as a Spanish teacher and examiner at Durham University (UK). After working there for several years, I returned to my native Spain where, having obtained the relevant English certificates, I became a freelance English teacher and translator. When it comes to translation, my aim is always to deliver the most suitable and accurate text for each client. My academic and working experience, both in the UK and in Spain, enhance all my tasks. I realise now I was localising before I knew it was a thing! For the duration of 2021, I worked as a localization manager of a team of six Spanish translators, creating digital content for a STEM award-winning virtual lab simulations platform. I have also developed a keen and informed interest in sustainability throughout my translation years, having helped transcreate content for clients with a sustainable vision for their businesses. I can translate on localization management softwares (Transifex, Trados, Lokalise, etc), directly on websites through the use of plugins (e.g. Polylang and TranslatePress on WordPress) and on Adobe InDesign.
