Software QA with 5+ years of experience in manual and automated testing. Engages in a customer-centric mindset to deliver a beautiful, functional, and easily-navigated product. Innately talented in technology and can quickly grasp how a product functions, how to improve it, and how to break it. A detail-oriented perfectionist that will take your product to the next level of stability and utility. EXPERIENCE: My first major QA role was at AppFolio Investment Management, a small startup with a new product that still had many features to develop. I was involved in all design meetings for new features, and even though I was a fresh hire and new to QA, my ideas were consistently implemented into the product. This was due to my natural ability to find a simple solution to a large problem, and my keen eye for a beautiful and functional application. The developers praised me for finding easy-to-implement solutions that would also solve all of the customers' problems. In this role, I worked in a small, agile team of 1 QA (myself), 2-3 developers, a UI/UX designer, and a product manager. This is my favorite team style, as I am able to work closely and directly with developers. As soon as they commit their code, I deploy it and immediately try to break it through UI and data manipulation. I also give my assessment on how the feature looks and performs. If I find any issues, I can notify them immediately and demonstrate exactly what the issues are so they can fix them effectively and efficiently. Once the branch has no issues and passes all of my tests, I merge it (with rebase if necessary) to the master branch using Git command line, where it is then tested again before the nightly release. I would like to bring this mindset and vigilance to a fresh product, and give your team a new perspective on how well your product performs and appeals to the eye. Someone with experience in this area, who has never seen your product before, may spark some ideas or find issues that have been glanced over by those already engulfed in the project. If you want a perfectionist who can only rest when their work is beautiful and without issues, to make your product the best it can be, please contact me. I would love to help bring to life the amazing product your team has envisioned. TESTING APPROACH: My manual testing approach for new features involves deep UI exploration testing, with a focus on aesthetics, performance, and UX flow. I am hyper-critical on how the product feels and performs, and I ensure each feature’s behavior fits with the rest of the product. After exploring, I try to find "edge-cases" through both UI and data manipulation. I think outside the box and do things the average user would not try just to see if I can get the code to break. I like to back up my individual feature testing with a manual smoke-test of the rest of the product, ensuring new features are not breaking pre-existing ones. Reading the code can help find areas of the product that may be vulnerable. Finally, once a feature has passed my manual inspection, I want to solidify its stability using automation. Automation tests included in the release cycle comb through that feature every time the code is modified, ensuring future changes do not break the feature. This can be done before or after it is merged into the master branch, depending on delivery timelines, but I think it is best to do it while the feature is still fresh in my mind. To improve QA as a whole, I am not afraid to criticize and voice my opinions on the team's processes. If I see a way to optimize the way we work, I want my team to know. If my ideas are deemed valuable, I will take ownership and work to implement them. TECHNOLOGY: I am using a MacBook Pro M2 running MacOS Sonoma 14.1.1 I have the most experience using VSCode as my IDE, with a modified bash terminal for Git version control. One of my favorite tools for testing Browserstack. It allows you to emulate almost any device and browser to test your application in all environments. You can also run Selenium automated UI tests through multiple emulators in parallel for rapid smoke-testing. I also have experience with Postman, CircleCI, AWS, built-in browser inspection tools, Microsoft Team Foundation Server (for bug and feature tracking), and various online Kanban boards.
