    My father helped me write my first story for publication when I was six years old. He got me to tell him the story of my first dove hunt and how I shot my first dove. I spoke, and he wrote the story. He did a bit of developmental editing, I believe; and I submitted the story to the Parmer School Student Newspaper. I was so proud when my story was printed in the mimeographed paper! Throughout grade school, I wrote stories for and about my friends, sometimes giving them away as presents. Some had titles such as "Super Goose Took Robbie and Me to the Moon," and some were about unlikely grade school superheroes like Pencil Man, whose highly technical mechanical pencils were his superpower. In high school and college, I worked hard at writing essays and learning the great literature of our civilization and the world. After completing on year of law school, I changed direction and began my working life as an 8th grade English teacher, but I later attended seminary and was ordained to the Episcopal priesthood. Having served Episcopal churches full time for many years, I was called to be the vicar of Grace Episcopal Church, a small congregation in Spring Hill, Tennessee, in April, 2017. My part-time status leaves me time for freelance writing. In May of 2015, I started Talking Tree Tales, a writing and publishing company. I co-authored A Year of Thanksgivings with Sallie Hicks and published it in May, 2018. It is available on Amazon.com. It is Sallie's memoir of a long and fruitful life. As we worked on the project, she did almost all the talking, and I did all the writing. I also wrote a tribute book which a man commissioned me to write for his brother. This book was released in a private printing. As a personal historian, I interview people and record their memories and family stories. I create transcriptions of the interviews and turn them into a book. I work to help people preserve a treasure that might otherwise be lost. Together with my clients, we create a priceless family heirloom that is a piece of primary history for generations to come. I do many other kinds of writing and editing on a weekly basis and enjoy finding ways of improving all types of written documents, my own and those of others.
