It took years of data, millions in ad spend and about a week of work to reduce 70,000+ negative keywords down to create a list of 1345 negative keywords that are applicable to virtually every account. This isn't a list of sex words that you never appear for on any searches like other companies add in, this is irrelevant search terms that you are actually likely to appear for. This is worth my fees alone. Secondly, I build my accounts in the right way. I spend a lot of time building out in a SKAG format. I was doing this years before the rest of the industry caught up. I use my experience and common sense to choose the right keywords (which unfortunately a lot of people lack) and I use psychology for the ad text. After that I test, test, test until I get things right. Most people want results the first day. Whilst that happens sometimes, in the real world it doesn't. It will normally take a few weeks of pausing keywords, raising bids to fit the market and testing different landing pages and messages until you get things right. Most freelancers / agencies will make a few changes per month - I make hundreds, maybe even thousands of changes in a month.
